Extraordinary denials for extraordinary truths

Recently I joined a networking group and posed the question "Will Zeno's Paradoxes + quantum theory accelerate and ultimately ‘force’ acceptance of holodynamic systems thinking? "

Given the large and consistent amount of evidence, it was effectively a rhetorical question. Yes, it's only a matter of time.

During the dialogue I offered a reward to counter the Proof of the impossibility of physical movement.

No takers, and here's why -- it's an extraordinary truth, so extraordinary that no one can face it (it seems).

The Proof of the Impossibility of Physical Movement, or PIPM, seemed to pip them.

Basically, the Proof explains that scientists believe their solutions to the paradox of movement is solved using infinite series. Now, infinite series, by definition and in the context of physical movement, involves ... you guessed it, an infinite sequence of "little" physical movements. They're not called 'infinite series' for nought.

It doesn't matter how big or small these "little" (or infinitesimal) movements are ... there's an infinite number of them. So goes the theory.

Clearly, when we move our bodies or blink an eye or whatever, we do no such thing. We don't and can't move our bodies through an infinite sequence of little jerks. Quantum physics -- you know, the world's most successful physical theory in history1 -- says it's just down right impossible to do so. It's impossible basically because if we were to move our fingers in infinitesimal little steps, our fingers would become ... uhm, seriously overweight during such movements -- infinitely fat, in fact. Check it, the Third Proof of the Impossibility of Physical Movement.

They're the facts.

Besides even if we could move our bodies in such a manner -- through literally a never-ending sequence of little physical increments -- we obviously couldn't be in control of our bodies when doing it (since we can't think infinitely -- if you think you can, you'll need to think again, and again, ad infinitum -- that's the nature of the infinite). So who or what is controlling our bodies?

Double-besides, the electrons that carry the electrical signalling to enable us to do this supposedly infinite sequence, DO NOT themselves move smoothly, continuously or contiguously. We know that. If they did the whole universe including all of us would disappear in a blinding flash. - seriously, it's called the Atomic Catastrophe2. So the electrical signalling required for the movement of our muscles through infinitesimally small movements is done by ...what? magic'? Hello?

Triple-besides, given the finite nature of our physiology, including the electrical signalling that is supposed to drive this infinite, never-ending, and literally endless ("endless" -- you know, the real, literal meaning of 'infinite') progress of little movements, how does the finite actually leverage this infinite sequence? How do we stop the body running off endlessly doing something it's not supposed to if we only have finite, limited ("limited", as in meaning "finite") capacity to control that which is beyond the finite? How do we control that which is literally beyond control?

Planet Earth calling.

So then, we now have a proof of the extraordinary abilities of the body, and of the extraordinary truth that the almost universal acceptance of infinite-series solutions to the paradox of physical movement is WRONG. That's WRONG in big, fat capital letters. Let's shout it from the roof tops, because, like, you know it's TRUE.

That's like finding out that the earth is not flat.

But hey, has anyone gone, "gee, you're right ... that's amazing".

No, instead we see extraordinary avoidance. Extraodinary denials. Extraordinary silence.

Now THAT'S extraordinary.

So what you might say...

Well, think of all the money and time wasted looking in the wrong direction for cures for cancer and other dis-eases, or the unintended and unforeseen consequences of mechanically fiddling with various genomes in the hope we can outsmart and outcompete a supremely flexible and adaptive self-organisating system (SOS) that evolves with intent ("Gaia").

And all the pills and potions designed not to address the root problem, but to mask the symptoms. And the vaccinations, in the hope of keeping ahead of a "Gaia" that evolves with intent, and if necessary, without us.

The demise of the human race as a result of our wrong-headedness won't be so extraordinary, but certainly will be a travesty of modern science.
